New Classes 2017

For the last couple of summers I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a summer school. So this year I packed the kids off to Tennis Camp and embarked on my first ever Upholstery week long course.

The course ran everyday from 7th-11th Aug 9.30am-3.30pm and included a light lunch.

I was very lucky with my three talented students.

Amanda had already completed an AMUSF qualification with Wendy Shorter so it was great to swap tips and techniques with her. She was working on a Victorian Iron Framed chair. Her attention to detail and workmanship was exceptional.

Jeanette was local and was already completing another class with a another upholsterer. She worked on a Parker Knoll chair, with a great pattern from Studio G. It was interesting to learn the layering achieved with her other teacher and compare what we were doing.

Sharon had been on one of my courses before and is also studying under Sarah Bolton, who taught me how to upholster! Sharon took on the task of stripping and rebuilding a Wing Chair. I loved hearing all the gossip from my old class.

I learnt a lot on my course and will most certainly be doing another next year.

New for THIS September, I am starting a Drop in Clinic for past and present students who are looking to complete their chair. The class is booked One week in advance as its a first come first served basis. The course runs Wednesday Mornings from 9.30am-12.30pm and costs £25.
